Basile abandonne la ferme paternelle vers1889, pour émigrer aux États avec sa nombreuse famille. Basile et Marie-Eulalie Michaud choisirent d'émigrer et de chercher l'aventure industrielle en Nouvelle Angleterre, espérant y trouver une vie pleine d`opportunités. Ils se sont établis avec une bonne dizaine de leurs enfants dans la ville de Salem, Massachusetts, quelque temps entre le dernier baptême enregistré à Trois-Pistoles en novembre 1888 et la premier à Salem en novembre 1890. J

Décès
Vers Juillet 1926, âgéé de 85 ans, Basile Morency est inhumé à Danvers, MA, USA.

Biography

Basile was born November 9, 1840, the son of Cyriac Baucher dit Morency and Justine Salomée Damour.

He married Eulalie Michaud at age 29 and they had at least 16 children. His wife died between 1900 and 1910. Basile passed away about 1925, according to the biography immediately below.

|Excerpt from FROM NEW FRANCE TO NEW ENGLAND By Donald Morency of Washington, D.C.[4] |- |I am Morency of the tenth generation. My ancestry begins with my father Ernest, and continues with my grandfather, Joseph alias Vézina born on paternal land in Trois-Pistoles, which his father Basile abandons in 1889, to emigrate to the States with his large family. The latter was the son of Cyriac, Basile, Augustin, the pioneer at Rivière-Trois-Pistoles, then Basile, Joseph-Marie, and Guillaume de Sainte-Famille. |- |Unlike my traditionally land-working ancestors, who passed from Montmorency to Sainte-Famille and Trois-Pistoles, my great-grandparents Basile and Marie-Eulalie Michaud chose to emigrate and seek industrial adventure in New England, hoping to find a life full of opportunities. They settled with a dozen of their children in the city of Salem, Massachusetts, some time between the last baptism recorded in Trois-Pistoles in November 1888 and the first in Salem in November 1890. I never knew exactly what work Basile had found there, that's where he was to die in 1925. |}

Research Notes

On Sophie Morency

Several census records list Sophie Morency with the family, who is an "idiot" or "insane". She was born to Basile Morency and Charlotte Lizotte on Jan 3, 1811 and baptized Feb 4, 1811.[31]

On the 1851 Census of Canada

Joseph and Adele Morency are the children of Cyriac's brother, Fabien, who died in 1850.[32]

On the 1871 Census of Canada

Sophie Morency, 26, cousin, "insane" is the daughter of Fabien Morency and Marguerite Cote. As noted above, her father died in 1850. Her mother died in 1853.[33]
